PSAC Convention report – day 4

15th TRIENNIAL PSAC CONVENTION – VANCOUVER BC REPORT TO CULE MEMBERSHIP FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 2009

Please accept our apologies for the lateness in the posting of yesterday’s update. Brother Patrick Bragg, who is graciously posting our updates, was extremely busy last night. We appreciate that he was able to post it at his earliest opportunity.

The third day of convention began at 8:30 a.m. with 756 delegates/observers/guests.

Elections chaired by Brother John Baglow commenced at 9:00 a.m.

PSAC National President:

John Gordon/Kevin Marchand

282/171 – John Gordon re-elected

PSAC National Executive Vice-President:

Patty Ducharme/ Guy Bellavance/Kevin Marchand

263/118/83 – Patty Ducharme re-elected

PSAC Alternate National Executive Vice-President:

Jérôme Turcq was acclaimed to the position.

The Constitution Committee reconvened in between elections and just before lunch.

* CS-71 Strike Pay increased by the delegates to $75 per day. * CS-73 Strike Pay in the North was increased to $100 per day.

Discussion on resolutions has been progressing slowly.

CS-74 Regulation 6 Northern Strike Pay was tabled

CS-95 Appeal Tribunal was adopted

The CULE Executive is meeting at 5:00 p.m. after close of Convention and prior to the PSAC Banquet at 7:00 p.m. Efforts have been undertaken to have a CULE Executive picture taken to post on the CULE website.
