KILUSAN 20th anniversary – solidarity statement
September 21, 2018
Warm and militant greetings to Kilusan Para sa Pambansang Demokrasya (KILUSAN) from the Canadian Union of Labour Employees (CULE)!
CULE is proud to congratulate KILUSAN on reaching the milestone of two decades of organizing amongst the Filipino people from across a multitude of sectors in the Philippines for genuine development and industrialization.
We are honoured to be part of your international network of individuals and organizations that are building relations and partnerships with the Philippines and its people in the spirit of international solidarity.
CULE is made up of members from across Canada who are the unionized staff employed in the regional offices of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) as well as the staff of one of PSAC’s Components, the Nunavut Employees Union. Our members are committed to the fight for worker’s rights and to strengthen the labour movement.
For the past decade, through the efforts of our members, our Solidarity Committee, and our Solidarity Fund, CULE has been a proud supporter and partner of KILUSAN and in particular, some of your member organizations, such as the Workers for Peoples’ Liberation, KAISA KA, and Youth for Nationalism and Democracy.
We know from your updates and from international news that the situation for the Philippine people is at a critical juncture as you face attacks to basic human rights for many.
While we cannot be there in person during your celebration of the important work you have undertaken for the last twenty years, please know that we are there in the spirit of unwavering solidarity in our common struggles. We look forward to deepening our relationship with KILUSAN and its member organizations through our delegates who are participating in the Solidarity Tour to the Philippines with you later this year.
Keep up the fight, never give up your struggle for justice and equality for all of the people in the Philippines.
