CULE Convention information

CUBA CONVENTION CUBA 2010

Convention Dates: Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17, 2009

Travel Dates: Monday, January 11 to Monday, January 18, 2009 | Friday, January 15 to Friday January 22, 2009

**(some have requested additional dates which include the week of Monday, January 4 -18, 2009, Monday, January 11 – 25 and Friday, January 15 – 29, 2009)

Confirmations:  All requests will be confirmed once we’ve received all requests. (please put in your requests asap)

Flights:  We will be using Air Canada Vacations.

Connection Cities:  All Monday flights will be connected through Toronto – going and returning. All Friday flights will be connected through Montreal – going and coming.

Connector Flights: We have special rates for connector from your home to the connecting city. The time delay allowed between connection flights is 23 hours and 59 minutes. If there is a need for overnight, CULE will provide a hotel at the connecting city for you.

Destination:  All flights are destined to Varadero, Cuba

Here are some answers of questions you may have:

  1. No there are no flights to Havana.

  2. No you may not fly to Varadero and return from Havana or vice versa.

  3. You can only travel in segments of 7 days only. ie: no 10 days, no 20 days, etc.

  4. Yes you can use your points to fly a family member or friend, and I can arrange for just hotel and meal costs. (please be aware it might not be worth using points combination)

  5. Yes you can book for 2 weeks with only1 week all inclusive. (You can go cross country anywhere, but return to Varadero to fly back.) There is no extra cost.

Eligibility: THAT CULE members on staff on September 1, 2009 who are either indeterminate or term over 12 months continuous service are eligible to apply to attend the CULE Convention as long as they are continuously on staff until the closing of Convention.

Childcare Policy for Cuba Convention: If you need child care and have requested this, CULE may cover costs for your travel day to the conference, the 2 days at the conference, and the day of travel back.

COSTS

  1. $1,560CDN plus $230 tax per person based on single occupancy: $1790

  2. $1,260CDN plus $230 tax per person based on double occupancy: $1490

  3. Child rates:  $710CDN + $230 tax  (child rates from 2 to 12 years old): $940

Connection fees range from: $0 to $390.00 Down payment for family member/friend: $300.00 Due before: July 31, 2009, should be sent to: Gail Chafe, Calgary R.O.

Final payment due before: September 25, 2009. (more information on method of payment, where to send it, what is needed with payment will be forthcoming) Payment will be made directly to Air Canada Vacations

Please note: Paying before the due date of Sept. 25th will earn you a discount of $80.00 per person.
