CIRB decision – Section 18 application to protect bargaining certificate in the North

CULE has received a decision from the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB). This decision relates to the regional negotiator position based in Yellowknife. On March 16, 2005 CULE filed a Section 18 application to protect our “all employee” bargaining certificate in the North.

In the Board’s view, the position of Regional Negotiator falls within the scope for CULE’s all employee bargaining unit. A review of the job description for the position in question establishes that the incumbent of this position works out of the Regional Office Branch located in Yellowknife and is under the direction of the Regional Coordinator for the North. (…) Consequently, union dues should from this date on, be remitted to CULE.
